    Description

Offered for purchase is a vintage taxidermy butterfly displayed in a lidded glass apothecary jar. It looks like a buckeye butterfly, and it is artistically arranged on a bed of dried flowers. The lid has been firmly secured with a piece of silver tape (photo 3). I'm not sure how old it is; but the colors are still fairly bright.
Approx. dimensions: 5 inches tall; just over 4 inches wide (at widest point).
Condition: Good given its age. Overall, the butterfly is in good shape (with a few ragged edges probably from collecting the specimen). Some of the flowers may have lost a few petals, but most seem to be intact. There is a film noticeable around the base of the jar (photos 3-6); it almost has the appearance of smoke. I'm not sure what caused it. The glass is in good shape, no chips or major cracks. There is a small imperfection on the top of the lid (photo 8) which could be a small crack.
