The King and Queen Swallowtails

Description

From the Peruvian jungles of South America, these very large and beautiful butterflies add a softer touch to my 5.5x10 dome collection.  The upper specimen is the Queen Swallowtail while the lower one is called the King Swallowtail and their massive size earns them their royal titles.  The pastel yellow in each butterfly is highlighted against warm, dark brown and punctuated with exotic tails.  The underside of the wings carry the same colors but with dramatically different patterns.  Both are members of the Swallowtail family which includes hundreds of species, each beautiful in its own right.  The butterflies are perfect in every detail and are mounted on real driftwood.  Each dome is a "one of a kind" due to differences in the driftwood.  The dome is mounted on a 6 inch wide walnut base. The dome itself is 5.5 inches wide and 10 inches high.  Each dome comes with a colored brochure describing the natural history of the species.
