his listing is for a lightly used Selmer (Paris) S80 C* (C star) mouthpiece for baritone saxophone, with a matching Selmer (Paris) ligature and cap set. The S80 is widely regarded as one of the best all around mouthpieces for intermediate to advanced level players. This piece is ideally suited for all varieties of 'legit' music, such as concert/symphonic band, orchestra, sax quartet/chamber ensemble, and solo classical performance. It will also work for jazz and contemporary styles in a pinch. The "C*" is the most popular facing option. The tip opening is a bit larger than a typical stock/student level mouthpiece, allowing for greater dynamic flexibility, while still being easy to control.
This one is in excellent used condition.
The tip, table, and rails are perfectly smooth, and there are no indentations on the beak. There is minimal light ligature scratching/scuffing on the exterior, and very slight fading of the hard rubber. The logo/markings are all clear. This mouthpiece has had a detailed cleaning to remove calcification, and has been sanitized. These sell for around 0 for a brand new one on ebay, and the cost at a brick and mortar music store is much higher. This is a great chance to get a high quality, as good as new Selmer mouthpiece at a significant savings compared to the cost of a brand new one!
As a bonus, this mouthpiece comes with a matching Selmer (Paris) ligature and cap set. The ligature is the older style 2 screw version, which for some reason Selmer has discontinued, despite the fact that a lot of folks still really like them. The ligature is in very good condition. It doesn't have any kinks or cracks in the metal, and the screws function properly. There is moderate wear to the lacquer finish. The cap is also in great shape, with light scratches from bouncing around in a horn case, but no dings or cracks. When they were still making these, this set retailed for nearly 0 alone!
