    his listing is for a vintage Selmer Magnitone alto saxophone mouthpiece. You don't see these often! In fact, I've only come across two others in 15+ years of selling sax gear. There is a ligature by the same name, which is also fairly rare, but more common than the mouthpieces. I don't believe that the two items were necessarily sold as a set. As far as I can tell, these were made briefly in the 1950's.
    This mouthpiece is made of hard rubber, not plastic. It has a slightly large, round chamber and deeply scooped inner side walls. It is stamped 42155 and M20 on the side. The first marking is not a serial number, but rather indicates the facing (42mm facing curve and 1.55mm tip opening). The standard measurement for the tip opening is .060". I assume M20 is the model number.
    This mouthpiece is in very good used condition. It has some scuffing and scratching on the exterior, but the facing is perfectly smooth. There are no tooth gouges on the beak. The rubber is discolored, but that in no way affects how it plays. It has been cleaned/sanitized.
