    Description

This is a very interesting Silk Moth from Southeast Asia. This specimen of Antherea pernyi came from Indonesia, where it originated. Nowadays though, this moth is bred in China for a type of silk which is produced by the larvae, as they produce their cocoon. I like the eye spots on the hind wings. These spots are said to repel predators who are surprised to see "eyes" staring at them as they attempt to eat a meal of a moth. This specimen is mounted in a glass topped frame that measures 6" x 8". And it can be yours!
